Requirements of film for flexible plastic packaging

The so-called flexible packaging refers to the packaging of plastic film packaging materials. It is generally believed that sheet materials with a thickness of less than 0.3mm are thin films, those with a thickness of 0.3-0.7mm are sheets, and those with a thickness of more than 0.7mm are called plates. Because the plastic film with single-layer structure has the same inherent characteristics and disadvantages as resin, it can not meet the various requirements put forward by more and more extensive commodity packaging. Therefore, multi-level composite film packaging has been developed to learn from each other and more effectively meet the packaging needs of commodities.

The commodity has the following requirements for flexible plastic packaging film:

1. Hygiene: the film for flexible packaging is mainly used in the inner packaging of food and drugs, that is, in the sales packaging, it is in direct contact with the packaged contents. Therefore, the packaging materials must be free of any toxicity, including the production and use of synthetic resin, auxiliary materials, adhesives, printing ink, etc. the residue of toxic components must be strictly controlled within the allowable range of the standard.

2. Protection: the packaged contents shall have good protection function: the goods will still have good use value when transferred from the hands of producers to the hands of consumers, and will not be damaged in the process of filling, storage, transportation and sales, nor will the internal quality change of the goods occur in this process. For example: easily decomposable nutrients, vitamin decomposition, etc. Flexible plastic packaging materials should also have sufficient physical and mechanical properties to prevent the damage of packaging bags under strong impact force.

3. Processability, easy processing and formability: flexible packaging materials should be easy to print, cut, canned, heat sealed, boxed and have good adaptability to processing machinery. This includes that the flexible plastic packaging film should have good non crimping, easy opening, rapid heat sealing and bag making, antistatic, etc.

4. Simplicity: easy to stack, count, handle, carry, display and sell, light weight, and the packaged waste shall be easy to recycle and dispose.

5. Merchantability: the flexible packaging should have beautiful printing, which can promote the sales of goods, novel design and stimulate customers’ desire to buy.

6. Information: packaging is a bridge between commodity producers and consumers. Therefore, various information that commodity producers should tell consumers must be printed on the packaging: for flexible packaging, the printing of these information is very important and an important embodiment of the appearance quality of commodities.
